Record-breaking month for TechCred as Ohio employers upskill thousands
Lt. Governor Jim Tressel announced that Ohio’s TechCred program hit new records in March 2025, awarding 651 employers with the opportunity to earn 8,830 tech-focused credentials. It marks the highest totals for a single application period in the program’s history.
Why it matters
The results underscore Ohio’s growing commitment to building a future-ready workforce by helping employers upskill their current and prospective employees with in-demand tech skills. Funded industries this round included manufacturing, educational services, and construction. All credentials must be technology-focused.
What they’re saying
“TechCred is all about our state teaming up with employers to build a future-ready workforce, and it’s clear from this record-breaking month that Ohio and its employers are all-in,” said Lt. Governor Tressel.
“When businesses support the growth of their employees, they both thrive,” said Lydia Mihalik, Director of the Ohio Department of Development.
“TechCred exemplifies the strong collaboration of training partners and industry in Ohio,” said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Mike Duffey. “The success of these partnerships is leading to a more skilled and better prepared workforce.”
May applications now open
The May application window is now open and will close on May 30 at 3:00 p.m. Eligible businesses can receive up to $30,000 per round and $180,000 annually.
