Five Ohio companies received Job Creation Tax Credits from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority on April 27, with projects expected to add 437 new jobs and nearly $100 million in investment statewide. Several of the approvals carry direct implications for Ohio's tech sector, particularly in advanced manufacturing and HR technology.

Carbon 3D anchors Northeast Ohio additive manufacturing expansion

The Technology House, a contract manufacturer based in Streetsboro with operations in Solon, will create 72 full-time positions and generate more than $5.3 million in new annual payroll. The project involves onshoring additive manufacturing capabilities in partnership with Carbon 3D, the California-based 3D printing technology company known for its Digital Light Synthesis process. The Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.446 percent, eight-year credit for the expansion, which spans facilities in Portage and Cuyahoga counties.

The Carbon 3D partnership indicates continued investment in domestic high-precision manufacturing capacity, an area where Ohio has positioned itself as a national hub through both private investment and policy.

Worthington benefits platform plans 200-job headquarters expansion

Centric HC, LLC — a brand of Worthington-based OPOC.us — will create 200 full-time positions and add $14 million in annual payroll through a headquarters expansion in Franklin County. OPOC.us operates an integrated platform combining health benefits, HR, payroll, wellness, and retirement services under brands including Centric HC and Accelwell. The Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.678 percent, nine-year credit, the largest of the five awards by job count.

The expansion adds to Central Ohio's growing concentration of HR technology and benefits administration companies.

Blue Ash electrical contractor adds engineering and panel design jobs

Ohio Valley Electrical Services, Inc. will create 40 full-time positions in Blue Ash, generating $2.875 million in new annual payroll. The Hamilton County project will support expanded engineering, electrical control panel design and manufacturing, and prefabrication operations as the company grows its Midwest footprint. The Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.266 percent, seven-year credit.

The full slate

The other two approved projects fall outside the tech sector but round out the meeting's slate: Webb Chemical Service Corporation will create 25 jobs in Strongsville, and Whirlpool Corporation will add 100 jobs in Perrysburg through a new subassembly and plastic injection molding facility supporting its US insourcing efforts.

Across all five projects, the Tax Credit Authority approved credits supporting more than $29.4 million in new payroll. The projects were brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners.
