Anduril expands production of autonomous drone system at Ohio Arsenal-1 Plant
A new ALTIUS 600 production line will expand the product lineup at Anduril’s Arsenal-1 facility in Ashville, where Fury, Roadrunner and Barracuda are also slated for production. Initial launch-team hiring is underway, with broader hiring planned as output scales.
Anduril Industries will build its ALTIUS 600 — a reusable, tube-launched autonomous aircraft designed for surveillance, electronic warfare and strike missions — at Arsenal-1 in Ashville.
The expansion adds a new production line at Anduril’s Pickaway County manufacturing campus and increases the company’s total capacity for the system, which will continue to be made at its Atlanta facility.
Driving the news
At Arsenal-1, the ALTIUS 600 will join Anduril’s Fury autonomous combat aircraft, Roadrunner vertical-takeoff interceptor and Barracuda autonomous air-vehicle family.
Anduril has begun hiring experienced launch-team employees to set up the new line. Broader manufacturing and technical hiring will follow as production scales, the company said.
“Arsenal-1 was designed to give Anduril the capacity and flexibility to respond quickly to growing demand,” Kevin Kerr, Anduril’s vice president of production, said in a statement. “Expanding ALTIUS 600 production to Ohio is another example of that strategy becoming real.”
Why it matters
ALTIUS vehicles can be launched from land, aircraft or ships, with modular payloads for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, signals intelligence, electronic warfare, communications relay and coordinated strikes. The system gives military units a relatively portable unmanned aircraft that can be configured for different missions rather than built for only one role.
The new line is the latest planned production addition at Arsenal-1, a 5-million-square-foot facility on 500 acres in Pickaway County. Anduril has said it will invest nearly $1 billion in the campus and create more than 4,000 direct production and service jobs in Ohio by 2035.
