VisioCell wins Tech419 Pitch Competition

Dr. Aniruddha Ray presents VisioCell during Tech419 at the University of Toledo

The University of Toledo Business Incubator hosted the Tech419 Pitch Competition on Thursday, November 13th, and VisioCell won first place, earning $10,000 in project funding.

About VisioCell

Dr. Aniruddha Ray, founder of VisioCell and Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Toledo, drew on his expertise in biophysics and imaging technology to create a portable, handheld microscope with companion software that delivers lab-grade imaging at a fraction of the cost of conventional systems.

Smaller than a cell phone, the device offers resolution finer than 700 nanometers and includes brightfield and fluorescence imaging capabilities that integrate seamlessly with its cloud-based viewing and analysis tools.

By merging high performance with true mobility, this breakthrough in portable microscopy makes precision imaging more accessible, affordable, and scalable than ever before.

About Tech419

The Tech419 Pitch Competition, hosted by The University of Toledo Business Incubator, marked the culmination of a structured training program for five tech entrepreneurs.

In a pitch showdown, contestants presented to a panel of business leaders, with a live audience of fellow entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, students, and other community members in attendance.

This year’s competition featured ventures from agriculture, medicine, AI, and imaging science, competing for a total of $20,000 in project funding.

The judges included experts from academia, industry, and community development.

Formerly known as “Pitch and Pour,” the annual event has been a cornerstone of the tech entrepreneurship ecosystem in the Toledo region since 2013.
