Anduril surpasses 300 employees at Ohio’s Arsenal-1 campus

The defense technology company is building the workforce behind a planned 5 million-square-foot manufacturing hub, with commitments to create 4,000 Ohio jobs by 2035. The expansion comes as the company prepares to add an ALTIUS 600 drone production line alongside existing Fury aircraft operations.

Anduril Industries now has more than 300 employees at its Arsenal-1 manufacturing campus in Pickaway County, more than doubling its workforce since July as the defense technology company expands its Ohio operations.

The latest onboarding class arrived Oct. 19, pushing the Ashville campus past the hiring milestone, the company said.

“Building Arsenal-1 starts with building the team,” said Kevin Kerr, Anduril’s vice president of production. “Each new class brings the skills and experience we need to grow, and this milestone reflects the progress we’re making on the commitments we made to this community.”

Building the workforce

Arsenal-1 had 143 employees as of July 27, when Anduril marked the rollout of its first Ohio-built Fury semi-autonomous fighter. The latest headcount represents an increase of more than 157 employees in less than three months.

The initial workforce included technicians, engineers and specialists. Many were local hires who spent months training at Anduril’s California headquarters before returning to launch the Pickaway County production line.

The hiring gains are an early step toward Anduril’s longer-term Ohio commitments: $910.5 million in capital investment and 4,000 direct production and service jobs by 2035. At full buildout, the campus is planned to span 5 million square feet across 500 acres near Rickenbacker International Airport.

Expanding the production lineup

The workforce milestone follows Anduril’s September announcement that it would establish an ALTIUS 600 production line at Arsenal-1. The Ohio line will expand the company’s manufacturing capacity for the reusable, tube-launched autonomous aircraft alongside continued production at its Atlanta facility.

ALTIUS 600 is designed for missions including surveillance, electronic warfare and strikes, with modular payloads and launch options from land, aircraft or ships. Anduril said in September that it had begun hiring experienced launch-team employees to establish the Ohio line, with broader manufacturing and technical hiring to follow as production scales.

“Arsenal-1 was designed to give Anduril the capacity and flexibility to respond quickly to growing demand,” Kerr said in the September announcement. “Expanding ALTIUS 600 production to Ohio is another example of that strategy becoming real.”

The campus’s production lineup also includes Fury, with the Roadrunner vertical-takeoff interceptor and Barracuda autonomous air-vehicle family slated for production.

From first aircraft to continued hiring

Anduril began Fury production work at Arsenal-1 in March, three months ahead of its original July target. The first Ohio-built aircraft took 126 days to assemble, and the line’s baseline configuration is designed to produce up to 150 Fury aircraft annually.

Anduril said hiring will continue as Arsenal-1 grows. Candidates can explore current opportunities at the Ashville campus through the company’s open roles page.
