Columbus-based Aplos Data earns Palantir’s top partner designation

The Ohio firm will help bring Palantir’s data and AI platforms to new customers nationwide, expanding beyond implementation work for existing users. Its projects include a fuel-distribution application that monitors thousands of diesel tanks, predicts replenishment needs and places orders.

Columbus-based Aplos Data is expanding its relationship with Palantir Technologies, adding work to bring the software company’s data and artificial intelligence platforms to new customers nationwide.

Palantir announced Oct. 22 that it named Aplos Data to Vanguard: Elite, the highest tier of its partner network. The companies said the designation recognizes the quality and speed of Aplos’ deployments.

The big picture

Aplos already serves as an implementation partner for existing Palantir customers. Under the expanded relationship, it will also work with Palantir across the United States to bring Foundry and AIP, Palantir’s data and AI platforms, to new customers.

Founded in Ohio, Aplos builds exclusively on Palantir. Its founding team includes DevCon Fellowship winners from Palantir’s developer conference, according to the announcement.

“Aplos Data consistently delivers tangible results to customers in weeks,” Kevin Kawasaki, Palantir’s global head of business development, said of the partnership. “Our customers trust them to deliver against the decisions they must get right, and to deliver outcomes in production quickly.”

How it works

Aplos calls its deployment methodology “Operate as One,” bringing a customer’s systems, data and decisions into a single operating system on Palantir.

At Palantir’s AIPCon 11 customer conference, Aplos demonstrated a fuel-distribution application that the company says monitors thousands of diesel tanks, predicts when fuel will run low and places orders. Staff act on the tanks that require a decision.

The company calls this approach “Decision Mode,” describing an operating environment in which employees can see the information they need and work alongside software that takes action.

In the field

The announcement highlighted Aplos’ work with two customers:

  • Mansfield Energy: Martin Underwood, head of strategy and innovation at the Gainesville, GA company, said Aplos quickly became part of the company’s team and developed an understanding of its operations. He said Mansfield is using Foundry to help employees devote more time to customer service.
  • Surf Air Mobility: Co-founder Liam Fayed of the Hawthorne, CA-based company credited Aplos with helping develop SurfOS, which he described as a software foundation for a more connected, intelligent and efficient aviation industry.

“What sets Aplos Data apart is how quickly they became part of our team,” Underwood said. “They understand how Mansfield really operates, and it shows in everything we build together.”

What comes next

The expanded relationship gives Aplos a role in bringing Palantir’s platforms to new organizations alongside its existing implementation work.

“With Vanguard: Elite, we can now bring it to organizations that have never had it,” said Ian Ferré, Aplos Data’s co-founder and CEO. “We intend to set the standard for how AI works in the real world.”
