Ohio Tech Day launches in Bowling Green with VR and career tech showcase
Ohio Tech Day 2025 officially launched this week with a flagship event at Bowling Green State University, bringing together students, educators, and community leaders to explore careers in technology and skilled trades.
What is Ohio Tech Day?
Ohio Tech Day, held annually on the final Friday in September and organized by statewide tech nonprofit association OhioX, is designed to inspire the next generation to pursue innovation careers.
This week’s Bowling Green program served as the official launch event, leading into statewide celebrations on Friday. The initiative celebrates Ohio technology and is meant to inspire students—the state’s next generation of innovators—by showcasing the opportunities available in tech and innovation.
Inside the launch event
Immersive experiences: Students explored the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop, powered by Meta Quest VR headsets, with simulations designed to showcase how modern technology is applied in real-world careers.
Partnerships in action: Meta, Ohio Tech Day’s presenting sponsor, partnered with OhioX and Be Pro Be Proud to bring the national initiative to Ohio. Meta has supported similar workforce development efforts in other states where it operates data centers, making Bowling Green a natural host site.
Community engagement: The event drew educators, local leaders, and industry partners who came together to connect students with the tools and opportunities shaping Ohio’s innovation economy.
