Meta's Ohio community grants spark STEAM learning and local Impact

Meta hosted local leaders, educators, and nonprofit organizations at its New Albany Data Center to celebrate the recipients of the 2025 Meta Data Center Community Action Grants. The annual program supports schools and nonprofits in Franklin and Licking Counties by funding projects that use technology to benefit the community, advance STEAM education, and improve local sustainability efforts.

This year’s recipients include eight organizations that span education, workforce development, and environmental sustainability:

  • Columbus Metropolitan Library: Expanding STEAM activities for youth ages 8–17.

  • Families Flourish: Providing hybrid meeting tech for collaborative services.

  • Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts: Funding K–12 arts education programs.

  • Licking Heights Local Schools: Creating a new STEAM lab and summer camp.

  • Maryhaven: Equipping individuals in recovery with digital job-readiness tools.

  • New Albany Bridges: Supplying TI-84 calculators and school essentials.

  • New Albany-Plain Local Schools: Developing an immersive outdoor nature classroom.

  • The Dawes Arboretum: Launching a solar-powered, 40-passenger electric tram to support STEAM education and reduce carbon emissions.

Meta’s Expanding Footprint in Ohio

The event also highlighted Meta’s growing presence and long-term investment in Ohio. Since opening the first data center in New Albany in 2017 Meta’s commitment to the state of Ohio represents an investment of over $2 billion. These facilities employ hundreds of technical and operational jobs and match electricity use with 100% clean and renewable energy, by adding new projects to the grid.

Through its Data Center Community Action Grants, Meta is not just powering the internet—it’s powering community growth, educational opportunity, and environmental stewardship across Central Ohio.

Mayor Sloan Spalding of New Albany joined Meta leaders and grant recipients at the event, applauding the program’s continued support for local organizations and students. The 2025 cohort builds on Meta’s mission to help communities thrive in the digital age.
